YessFish respects your privacy. Below you can read which data we process and why.
What we collect
Account data (username, email), your catches, messages, and the spots and waters you add — with location, notes, photos and video links (e.g. YouTube). GPS location only with your consent.
How we use it
To run the platform: login, showing your content, friends/messages, fishing weather and the map. With your consent we use your GPS for the map, marking catches/spots and to count anonymously toward busyness (check-in — without name or exact spot). Shared content may be reviewed by moderators; paid-water links point to external sites.
Fish-AI & AI fishing assistant
When you identify a fish with Fish-AI or ask the AI fishing assistant a question, only what is needed — the photo you choose, or your question with your approximate area — is sent over a secure connection to our AI provider (Anthropic) to give you an instant answer. This happens only at the moment you use the feature yourself. Your data is not used to train AI models, not sold or shared with others, and not linked to a profile. If you prefer not to, simply don't use these features — everything else in YessFish works without them.
Location (GPS)
We use your GPS location only with your consent and only while you are using the app or website — never in the background. Purposes: showing the fishing map, marking a catch or spot at the right place, counting anonymously toward busyness (check-in — without your name or exact spot), and the local weather on your home-screen widget. Your location is not stored or shared for this (weather is requested at roughly 1 km accuracy). You can withdraw location permission at any time in your device or browser settings; those features then simply work without location.
Storage
Your login token is stored locally in your browser to keep you logged in. We set no tracking cookies.
